01 Prepare test notes

Start with fictional data. This example uses three tasks and leaves one duration unspecified. Avoid pasting personal or confidential data into an external service.

02 Define columns and missing values

Request task, day and duration in minutes. Keep one row per task and write unspecified for missing values. Ask for tab-separated text to paste into a spreadsheet.

03 Compare the result with the original

Check for three data rows, three columns and no invented duration. If the assistant added tasks or filled the missing value, ask for a correction before copying.

04 Paste and count again

Paste into a spreadsheet and confirm each value occupies its column. The editorial example was checked with a text parser. Your assistant’s response may vary.

A request you can adapt

Convert these notes to tab-separated text with columns task, day, duration_min. Keep one row per task. Do not add tasks or estimate missing data: write unspecified. Return only the table. Notes: study, Monday, 30 minutes; shopping, Tuesday, duration unspecified; reading, Friday, 20 minutes.

Checked synthetic example

task day duration_min study Monday 30 shopping Tuesday unspecified reading Friday 20

Can AI make mistakes?

Yes. Check every cell against the notes. Split long lists into batches and check row counts in each batch.
