Why it matters: Helps trace an answer to its source; a citation does not automatically make an AI answer correct.

What changes

Google announces per-cell web references for the AI function in browser-based Sheets and a capacity of 3,000 cells per request.

Access and rollout

An eligible edition is required: Business or Enterprise Standard/Plus, Google AI Pro/Ultra, or the education and expanded-access add-ons listed in the source. Gradual rollout began October 20; the announcement is dated October 28. Immediate access in every Spanish account is not guaranteed.

Using it carefully

Editorial example: when reviewing a supplier table, open each reference and check whether it supports the specific value and remains current. Citations do not eliminate mistakes. We have not tested this update. The photograph illustrates data review, not the Sheets interface.
